Display modes
- Per display: choose a different wallpaper for each monitor.
- Clone: show the same wallpaper on multiple displays.
- Span: stretch one wallpaper across the combined desktop.
- Playlist: rotate selections on a schedule.
Best results
Match wallpaper aspect ratio to the monitor layout. Ultra-wide spans need imagery composed for the full combined resolution.
Performance note
Each independent animated wallpaper can add work. Start with one simple selection across displays, then increase complexity gradually.
Choose the correct layout mode
Separate wallpaper per display
Best when monitors have different orientations, resolutions, or purposes. Select each monitor in the layout and assign its wallpaper independently.
Clone
Shows the same composition on more than one screen. This is simple and often lighter than running unrelated complex scenes.
Span
Uses one wallpaper across the combined desktop. Choose art designed for the full combined aspect ratio so important subjects do not land in bezel gaps.
Playlist
Rotates multiple wallpapers. Keep items with similar aspect ratios together to avoid inconsistent cropping.
Fix wrong wallpapers after restart
If wallpapers move to the wrong display after Windows starts, the official automatic-startup guide recommends changing Monitor identification in the General settings to Layout or GDI. Repeatedly changing monitor identifiers can be a graphics-driver or Windows display-configuration problem, so a clean driver installation may also be appropriate.
Before changing settings, label the physical monitors in Windows Display Settings and confirm that their arrangement matches reality. Disconnecting a dock, changing DisplayPort connections, or switching GPU ports can make Windows treat a screen as a new device.
Performance checklist for two or more screens
- Begin with the same lightweight Scene on every display.
- Use 30 FPS while testing.
- Confirm every screen pauses or stops when a fullscreen application runs.
- Match wallpapers to portrait, ultrawide, or standard landscape aspect ratios.
- Add independent high-effect scenes one at a time.
- For laptops and docks, retest after reconnecting because display identifiers can change.
