Quick setup
- Buy and install Wallpaper Engine through Steam.
- Open Discover or Workshop and subscribe to a wallpaper you like.
- Select the downloaded wallpaper in Installed.
- Open Settings → Performance and choose what happens when games or fullscreen apps run.
- Adjust volume, color, speed, or other properties exposed by the wallpaper creator.
Choose the right type
Scene wallpapers are usually the best starting point because they are designed for the app. Video wallpapers are simple and predictable. Web wallpapers can be interactive but may use more resources.
Safe first settings
Use Pause for fullscreen applications, mute wallpaper audio by default, and avoid downloading executable files offered outside Steam Workshop.
